THE BALKANS & EUROPE - MOTORCYCLE TOUR 2019
A brief photographic journal of a motorcycle trip across Europe. The idea was simple, go to Europe, find some cheap motorbikes and ride around countries we thought would be cool, easy right. With little planning my cousin Sacha and i procured a pair of 15 year old high milage Yamaha 600 Fazers in Athens and with the help of our good friend Arthur purchased them. With no way of knowing if they would last the journey or their previous service history we really were rolling the dice but we had two of them so if we needed parts we could borrow from the other and figure out the rest later. Strapping our luggage packs and $30 tent to the bikes with whatever straps we could find, crossed our fingers and hoped for the best, after all it wouldn’t be a good adventure if we didn’t take risks . With a very rough route planned and not much else we set off on our adventure through the Balkans up north with the only language we speak between us being English and a few Serbian swear words. We used a combination of google maps and advice from locals to find the most windy, fun and interesting roads, this was our mission after-all to ride some of the best motorcycle roads in Europe and avoid the tollways as best we could.
By the end of this 5 week road-trip we had visited 11 Countries, covered around 8500kms and had enough stories to last a lifetime. No mechanical issues and no crashes means the bikes and ourselves made it back to Greece ( where they still remain 3 years later ) in one piece. Cant beat that Japanese reliability. My way with words ends about here so i’ll let this photographic essay do the talking, hope you enjoy.
