Mercedes Benz 230SL Pagoda Photoshoot

private photoshoot with this TIMELESS Mercedes Benz

Early this year Victoria, Australia suffered some devastating bushfires, after a few weeks the smoke and haze from the bushfires hundreds of kilometers away reached the city of Melbourne and swept across the suburbs. This situation created some very soft and diffused lighting as a weird orange glow lit everything. This hazey lighting ended up being perfect for shooting the timeless curves of this classic Mercedes Benz 230SL Pagoda and creating some unique images for its owner. No introduction is needed for this classic two-seat roadster/coupe as its reputation precedes it.

Covid 19 Lockdown Photoshoot

2016 Yamaha R1 Photoshoot Melbourne

During the ongoing Covid 19 lockdown restrictions i got quite desperate to ride my bike and also take photos, I decided to take matters into my own hands and setup a quick photoshoot with my 2016 Yamaha R1. This was also good chance to test out the new Godox AD360 Flash’s i had purchased just before the lockdown. The following photos were achieved during the day in my driveway using 2x Godox AD360 and 1x Godox AD200 flash units. The thing i love about these modern flash units is the Hi Speed sync function which allows me to shoot at F2.8 on my 200mm lens which really lets me seperate the subject from the background. I’m looking forward to spending more time getting to know this Godox flash system, so far i’m very impressed.

Restored Classic Ducati Scrambler

This beautifully restored 250cc classic Ducati Scrambler was photographed recently for the April Issue of Retrobike Magazine. The current owner bought the bike over the internet from Northern Italy and had it shipped all the way to the other side of the world here in Australia. A great looking restored retro bike that would be a whole lot of fun on the streets.

Tamron SP24-70 First Impressions- Testing out a new lens at the MX Track

Back in February i purchased a second hand Tamron SP24-70mm F2.8 Di. This focal length is usually a staple in most photographers gear bags, however i have managed to get away with my assortment of 25 year old Nikon primes instead of using this more friendly zoom lens. When this lens came up at the right price i quickly snapped it up and waited patiently for it to arrive, excited to test it out.

This is the first lens Ive owned with in built vibration stabilisation/reduction (VR). I was very eager to see what it could do and how slow i could push my shutter speeds especially with fast moving subjects, what better way to test it out than at the local MX track. The conditions were very average with rain, dull cloud cover and constant drizzle so it really was a good way to test the weather sealing on this lens. I can report back that both the VR and weather sealing worked flawlessly. I still prefer the look of the Nikon primes ( especially the 50mm) but having a lens good for wide and zoom is very handy in capturing the action and not having to swap out lens’ every 5 minutes. I’m Looking forward to spending some more time with this lens and putting it through its paces, i believe it will really be in it’s element in close quarters event photography.

Some shots using this lens are below.

Husqvana Nuda 900R Cafe Racer - Magazine Photo Shoot

JOSH’S CUSTOM HUSQVANA NUDA 900R CAFE RACER

Back on a warm January afternoon in 2019 i had the pleasure of shooting Josh’s custom Husqvarna Nuda 900R Cafe Racer for the April issue of Retrobike Magazine.

After a small accident and a generous insurance payout Josh decided to do something different with his already very rare Nuda. He decided to convert it into a modern Cafe Racer with a custom kit made specifically for the bike by a German parts specialist called LSL. The bikes suspension and tuning was also been enhanced by the experts at Race Center. Theres a lot more to the story of this bike which can be found in its magazine feature but for now enjoy the photos.

These images were featured in the April 2019 Issue of Retro Bike Magazine.

Travels across India 2018

A small sample of my favourite images from a short 2 week visit to India back in early 2018. These were shot around the UNESCO World Heritage Site located in east-central Karnataka, India. The last few images are from the city of Bangalore which is the capital of the Indian state of Karnataka. A truly amazing place and i only scratched the surface of things to see and do.
