CITY MX - MELBOURNES NEWEST MX TRACK

Had the pleasure of heading out to to Melbourne's newest MX track yesterday CityMx and had a ride of their Intermediate and Main track. The team have built a great complex thats so close to Melbournes CBD. As my photography skills are much better than my motocross riding skills i swapped out my Husky for the Nikon and shot a few of the riders later in the day.

I'm really looking forward to riding here again.

Off Road Motorcycle Rider - Studio Portrait Photography

To keep myself productive and scratch that creative photography itch during Melbournes recent lockdown i've spent much of my time experimenting in my home studio practicing new lighting and gel setups. As with my Yamaha R1 Portrait shoot i got geared up and jumped in front of the lens to create these images. It is always a challenge setting up the scene, lights, gels and then hitting that camera self timer , running into position, posing, being in focus and also getting the smoke machine working all at the same time.

I'm glad that most the time all of these elements lined up and i'm excited with the final visuals. Here are the final edited photos.

Scroll down for a very short behind the scenes video from this shoot for an insight into how i achieved these images.

Shark & Airoh Motorcycle Helmets- Product Photography

Product photography captured in my studio during Melbournes 3 month lockdown. I thought id keep productive during this downtime so it was the perfect time to try some new techniques and ideas that were swirling around my head, what better subject to shoot than some of my favourite helmets.

ENDURO ROLLFORMER- INDUSTRIAL PRODUCT PHOTOGRAPHY

I was contacted by John from Dialogue Visual Communication to be a part of a commercial photoshoot for one of his clients. The product to photograph was a very large industrial piece of machinery, not something i would normally shoot but i was up for the challenge.

The machine itself turns rolls of sheet metal into framing for use in the construction industry, namely metal framing for houses and buildings. The machines manufacturer ‘Enduro’ is a subsidiary of a much larger parent company, Blue Scope Steel Australia. The client required images of their new machine for use on their website, brochures and also marketing materials both printed and online. To light such a large complex object I used a mix of both studio flash and also LED light painting techniques to make the machine pop from the cluttered background and the rest of the warehouse. Working closely with John and the ‘Enduro’ sales team on site we spent a few hours creating images and nailed the brief. Below are a few samples that we came away with.
