Yamaha R1 & Superbike Rider - Studio Portrait Photography
During Melbournes recent Covid Lockdown i decided to try out some of my new Godox soft-boxes and boom arm in the studio. At least lockdown isn't too bad when you have some cool toys in your garage to shoot and a head full of creativity. The only problem I had was no-one to shoot so I set the self timer, the focus and jumped in front of the camera time and time again to get the lighting, smoke and posing right. It took some time but was worth it. Here are some of the final images.
Keep scrolling below for a short behind the scenes video from this shoot.
Have you considered a studio based photoshoot for you and your motorcycle just like this one? Feel free to send an email to alex@fstylephoto.com and we can set up your own man-vs-machine shoot.
HUSQVARNA TX300 - DRIVEWAY AND GARAGE PHOTOSHOOT
How to get creative when you are stuck at home?
Being stuck at home during Melbournes lockdown i decided to practice some ideas i’ve had in my head for a while. My home driveway and garage are not ideal places to shoot as they have cluttered unflattering backgrounds. So with these photos i decided to use a combination of my Godox Studio lights, water smoke and coloured gels to make a boring location into something a bit more eye catching. Check out the final results below and also a short BTS video of how these shots were created.

What to do when you are locked at home, bored and want to test out some lighting setups but don’t have anyone to pose for you? You stand in front of the camera yourself and pull stupid faces and hope for the best.
Historic Sidecar Racers - Promotional Sponsor Portrait Photoshoot
Michelle and Julie are two badass local sidecar racers who compete in the historic P3 class on their hand built Norton Atlas P3 sidecar. I had previously shot this Norton Sidecar for Michelle and husband Tim few years before and was excited when Michelle contacted me again late last year for another shoot.
Below are some of my favourite shots from this shoot. Head over to the Classic Wheels & Spokes, Otway Hydroblasting & Metal Works page to check out Tim and Michelles latest work. Im looking forward to shooting 2 more of their bike builds later this month.

Grimm Industries Automotive Furniture - Product Photography
Product Photography with a touch of attitude
I recently spent some time with Andrew from Grimm Industries at his workshop in Melbourne. Andrew has turned his passion into a business and creates the best V8 coffee tables and automotive inspired furniture in Australia. His finished products use all kinds of engine parts to create furniture such as tables, lamps, seats and some one off specials. It was such a great experience shooting his furniture and giving it a dramatic moody look with the use of multiple studio lights, some coloured gels and some smoke. We didn’t want the typical boring white online store look as this just didn’t gel with the brand and the style of products. The images from this shoot will be used both on the Grimm website and social media channels.

Front Cover Feature for Motorcycle Trader Magazine Issue 350
In September my photos were used for the front cover of Australian Publication Motorcycle Trader Magazine. Featuring some shots from my previous shoot with Richards Fleet of R1’s along with some new photos that were taken just for the magazine feature. Very glad that we could get Richards R1s featured in and immortalised in print as I have learned he has recently sold the 1998 Model.

21 Years of the Yamaha R1
1998 - 2015 Yamaha R1 - Photoshoot
A few years ago private collector and club racer, Richard, contacted me to shoot his collection of Yamaha R1’s. Well fast forward 2 years after that shoot and he has expanded and updated his Yamaha collection. What we have here is his tribute to the original 1998 R1. And what better way to do that than an original 1998 Yamaha R1 and a 2015 R1M with custom paint and graphics in the 1998 R1 colour scheme. We also have his 2015 R1 Race Bike looking very different to the way it did back in 2017.
The images that follow are my tribute to these machines and one of my all time favourite motorcycle manufactures.

Opposite Lock 4WD - Ford Ranger Studio Photoshoot
Studio Photography with the 2018 Ford Ranger
I recently had the opportunity to shoot for one of Australia’s leading 4x4 Accessories retailer. Opposite Lock have been around since 1974 and have many stores Australia Wide. The photos of this Ford Ranger are for an upcoming national competition as Opposite Lock are giving the car away. With all the gear on it this vehicle is worth over $75,000 away. This shoot was a bit tricky considering the location in a makeshift car studio which made it very difficult to get the car lit evenly and shoot from all angles as there were hoists and warehouse pallets in the way. In spite of this we managed to work around this and provide the client with the images requested and exceeded the requirements of the brief. If you’re feeling lucky you can enter the competition (i know i did) ENTER HERE!.
