Custom Yamaha TRX Photoshoot

Does it get anymore customized than this? I don't think there is one part of this 1996 Yamaha TRX 850 that has not been modified.  It starts with extensive engine work - high comp pistons + flatside carbs and head work - Triumph 675R Ohlins front end and brakes - CBR1000RR rims -Race Centre modified R6 Ohlins rear shock - Custom hand made exhaust - custom subframe - chopped and modified tank - Harley headlight - Ducati Master cylinder. The list goes on and on and is absolutely incredible.

I had the chance to shoot this amazing bike for Johnny Taylor. Jonny is an accomplished road racer who built the bike himself over 4  years. Everything on the bike had a purpose to make it go harder, handle and stop better (plus it also looks sexy).  This bike will be featured in an upcoming issue of RetroBike magazine in October, i'm pretty excited to see my photos in print.

In the mean time you can read more about Johnnys bike over at Return of the Cafe Racer in their writeup on his bike HERE

R1 Race Bike Photoshoot

This shoot was interesting and a lot of fun. Richard had just finished his R1 Race Bike ( his wet bike) and wanted some photos. These shots were taken just as the sun was setting which created the beautiful backlight coming from the window. I had to move fast setting up my flash's as the light was fading quickly. For the hazy effect i ended up using the bag from a vacuum cleaner which was full of dust, to shoot the dust in the air we used air from an air gun in the workshop.

Suzi's Retro Suzuki

Suzi is the most bubbly fun girl you could meet which is fitting for her new bike. Her partner bought her this Suzuki for her 30th Birthday this year and had to store it at my studio to hide from her. I decided to snap a few shots of the bike as it was just too damn cool, it also gave me an excuse to test out some coloured gels and lighting for that retro look. These few images are a combination of mostly Elinchrom studio flash's and light-painting.

Local Road Racer - Promotional Photoshoot

Luke is a local road racer who i met through a mutual friend earlier this year. A great guy and a passionate rider he will be racing the Hartwell Series this year. His ZX10 was built by the legends at Race Centre who have made many go fast ZX10's over the years. Although the fairings are a bit rough this is one quick machine. Luke approached me to create some images of himself and his bike for his sponsor for promotional uses. It was great to spend a couple of hours with Luke talking about racing and bikes. I hope i can head out on track with Luke later this year and see how much his Kawasaki will destroy my Aprilia down the Phillip Island Straight.

Here are some of my favourite images from this shoot. Good luck to Luke on your season mate.

R1 vs R1 vs R1- The story of a Yamaha fan boy

I was lucky enough to have to opportunity to shoot a stable of R1's. My friend Richard is a Yamaha nutter and these are just 3 from his collection. Richard and myself have had heaps of fun battling it out on track at Phillip Island trying to best each other's PB's...and this 2015 R1 Track bike is his weapon of choice and makes my RSV4 seem super slow down the chute at P.I  What I shot on the day was his 15 Yamaha R1M, his 15 Yamaha R1 race bike (dripping with Ohlins goodness) and his 2012 R1 race bike (again dripping with Ohlins and aftermarket goodness) This guy certainly doesn't fuck around. Hope you enjoy the pics.
